A vintage and very uncommon Palladium ring, beautifully set with a striking sapphire cluster framed by fine diamonds. Crafted in a refined and elegant design, the cluster centres on a marquise-form arrangement of sapphires, enhanced by three round-cut stones and additional smaller sapphires, creating a rich, dimensional composition of deep blue tones. Surrounding the cluster are six finely facetted round-cut diamonds, adding brilliance and contrast to the design. The band is clearly hallmarked “PALL”, confirming high-grade Palladium of at least 95% purity. With its naturally white lustre, Palladium offers the same sophisticated appearance as platinum, yet with its own unique history and desirability. During the Second World War, when platinum was diverted for industrial use, Palladium became the preferred alternative in fine jewellery, and today remains highly sought after, not only in jewellery but also in advanced industries such as automotive catalytic converters. The ring is in excellent condition, presenting like new with a soft, even age patina and no damage or losses. The setting is finely executed, with a balanced and elegant profile, the shoulders dividing gracefully before merging into a comfortable band at the rear. Dimensions approx.: Ring size 6.25; band width 6mm at the double shoulders, tapering to 2mm at the rear; band thickness approx. 1mm. Sapphire cluster comprising one 4mm round stone, two 3mm round stones, seven marquise-cut sapphires (approx. 4mm x 2mm), and one 2mm round sapphire. Diamonds: six round-cut stones approx. 1mm each. Total estimated carat weight approx. 0.72ct. Total mass 4.5g. Circa 1940s.
