$28.02
A rare and highly desirable Moorcroft “Dryandra” vase, shape 869/6″, designed by Angela Davenport and produced in 2001 as part of a Limited Edition of 250 created to commemorate her Australian visit. This example is clearly numbered 140/250, as shown to the base. The decoration features bold and sculptural yellow dryandra blooms with finely articulated petals, set amongst rich green foliage against a deep, graduating blue ground. The strong colour palette and confident tube-lined technique create exceptional depth and visual impact, with the design wrapping seamlessly around the form. Dryandra, an Australian native closely related to banksia, is celebrated for its dramatic, radiating flower heads composed of hundreds of individual florets. Davenport’s interpretation captures both the strength and elegance of the species, making this one of Moorcroft’s most distinctive Australian-themed designs. The base, as illustrated, is fully marked MOORCROFT, Made in Stoke-on-Trent, England, and bears the hand-painted signature of Angela Davenport. It is also dated 2001, numbered 140/250, and features the special Australian outline stamp with “2001”, confirming its production for the Australian market during this period. Additional painted marks and edition notation further support its authenticity and limited-edition status. Presented in excellent condition with no damage or restoration, the vase retains strong, vibrant colour, crisp tube-lining and a fine lustre. There is very minor crazing to the neck, consistent with Moorcroft production and age. Dimensions approx.: 16cm high x 13cm diameter. An outstanding collector’s example, combining clear provenance, limited availability and strong decorative presence.
