An Authentic Pair Alexander McQueen Asymmetrical Memento Mori Skull Earrings

An authentic and spectacular pair of asymmetrical Mori Skull earrings by Alexander McQueen, designed with striking Art Deco influence. Both earrings are finished in rich gold and highlighted with brilliant, finely cut ruby-coloured rhinestones. The longer earring features multiple ruby rhinestone drops, a golden shield centred with a skull surrounded by white rhinestones, and a black enamel hand at the base. The hand is detailed with a jewelled cuff and a small ring set with a tiny seed pearl. The shield bears the full Alexander McQueen hallmark around the skull. The skull motif is not macabre but a reference to the Latin phrase Memento Mori—live for today, for tomorrow you may die—a theme embraced by many renowned designers, including Oscar de la Renta. The alternative earring takes the form of an exaggerated long safety pin, also in gold finish, adorned with a ruby at the clasp, a ruby drop and a pearl drop below, and white rhinestones set in a multi-claw cap at the top.
