An Outstanding Art Deco Celluloid Bangle Finely Detailed Chrysanthemums Daisies and Foliage

$13.59
An Early Art Deco deeply moulded Celluloid Bangle, featuring a beautiful floral design with four large Chrysanthemum blooms at the quarter points, surrounded by smaller daisy flowers and finely worked leaf detail in-between. The outer surface is gently domed, while the inner surface is smooth and flat to the wrist for comfortable wear. The moulding is exceptionally crisp — the more you look, the more detail appears — making this a wonderful example of decorative Art Deco costume jewellery. Celluloid bangles of this quality are now becoming increasingly hard to find. Originally worn as fashionable dress jewellery in the 1920s, many were not kept long-term, and surviving pieces can be scarce today. This example remains in immaculate condition, completely intact, with only minor manufacturing marks visible to the inner surface. Celluloid was first developed in England in the 1860s and later produced in the U.S.A. from the 1870s, becoming especially popular for bangles and accessories during the Art Deco era. Dimensions approx.: Inner diameter 6.4cm; 1.3cm wide; 0.6cm deep (varies with moulded detail); Total mass 13.4gm. Circa 1920s, U.S.A.
