$61.58
A fascinating and rare 1960s-era American ice bucket designed in the form of a terrestrial globe, this piece is both functional and symbolic—often referred to as a “Cold War” ice bucket. The standout feature is the rocket-shaped handle, cleverly referencing geopolitical tensions of the era, with the rocket appearing to launch from the United States toward Russia. The lid is secured by two pins which align with marked locations on the globe and corresponding points on the solid white nylon liner. This inner liner is designed to hold ice cubes and is suspended within the metal body, creating an insulating air gap. The base includes a central ventilation hole to further enhance insulation by allowing airflow within the cavity, a thoughtful and effective design element. This ice bucket is a striking example of mid-century political commentary expressed through design, and it remains in excellent condition throughout. Approximate dimensions: 26cm high overall, 22cm diameter sphere; inner liner 14.5cm internal diameter x 12cm deep.
