Safer than Cold Steel but… Okay first thing to note is that it is a reproduction of a stereotypical Jian rather than a historic one. As a result, the blade tends to be pretty wobbly. This can make the edge alignment practice pretty tricky if you’re not trained in Wushu. So don’t expect a completely accurate reproduction. On the other hand, it’s light, properly balanced, and shaped well so you won’t hurt your sparring partner the way you would with the Cold Steel Waster or Longsword. Not my favorite training sword, but it’s pretty good for what it is.
