Darksword – The Sword of Bannockburn with Integrated Sword Belt – Green

Scotland and Ireland were one of the rare parts of Medieval Europe that had sword designs that were culturally unique, separate and unrepresented on the continent. This longsword takes its elegant form from an arming sword shown on the grave effigy of Gilbert de Greenlaw, a Scottish Knight who fell at the 1411 Battle of Harlaw. Its upswept guard and “teardrop” wheel pommel are full of medieval Scottish character. Robustly constructed, the battle-ready sword is great for collectors, reenactors and test-cutting enthusiasts alike. Designed during a turbulent period marked by clan warfare and regional conflict, this sword emphasizes durability, cutting authority, and straightforward functionality. Hand forged from 5160 high-carbon steel and expertly heat treated, the 32 inch blade is built for real performance with a hardened edge supported by a resilient, shock-absorbing core. The blade’s broad profile and strong central fuller provide excellent cutting power while maintaining structural integrity. At about 3 lbs 6 oz weight with a point of balance that is about 4″ above the guard the handling reflects its historical roots—solid and confident in the hand, with a balance that supports decisive cuts and controlled recovery. Its grip length at almost 7 inches gives its bearer plenty of leverage for powerful cuts and control. The guard and pommel are steel and the tang of the blade is peened over the pommel to solidly anchor the sword into its hilt. The quality-crafted companion scabbard for the sword is made from carved wood and it is bound in stitched leather and fitted with a steel cap for protection. An integrated sword belt of leather makes it ready for wear right out of the box.
