An impressive large Moorcroft Mamoura Vase decorated in the distinctive tube-lined technique for which the pottery is internationally renowned. The design features a stylised landscape with rolling hills, water and flowering plants beneath a canopy of richly coloured green foliage, all set against a softly graded sky. The bold raised outlines and layered glazes create remarkable depth and vibrancy, highlighting the craftsmanship that defines Moorcroft pottery. The Mamoura pattern was designed by Sally Tuffin, one of Moorcroft’s most influential modern designers, during the period when she revitalised the company’s artistic direction in the late twentieth century. Her designs drew inspiration from natural landscapes and the Art Nouveau tradition that has always influenced Moorcroft’s aesthetic. Founded in 1897 in Stoke-on-Trent, England, Moorcroft became celebrated for its richly coloured art pottery using the distinctive tube-lining technique first developed by founder William Moorcroft. Each piece is individually decorated by hand, ensuring subtle variations and making every example unique. The base bears the Moorcroft mark along with the WM monogram, honouring founder William Moorcroft and reflecting the continuation of the pottery’s historic traditions. Large cabinet pieces of this scale are particularly striking and highly decorative. Presented in excellent condition with strong colour and crisp tube-lined decoration, this substantial example makes a superb display piece. Dimensions approx.: 31.5 cm high x 16 cm diameter. Moorcroft Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent, England. Mamoura pattern designed by Sally Tuffin.
