This replica of the large military Khukuri wielded by Ghurka troops in the British Army in WW1 – Over 90,000 Ghurka fought in WW1 and were tenacious fighters who earned significant distinction for their heroism in some of the toughest battles in WW1 such as Gallipoli. Well balanced despite its larger size, this Khukuri forged in Nepal by EGKH features a tempered 12-inch blade of 5160 high carbon steel with the thick khukuri spine that lends both durability and cutting power. Its full-tang construction provides excellent overall strength, making it well suited as a collector’s piece or as a capable blade for backyard test cutting. The blade and tang are forged from a single, continuous piece of steel, giving the knife the most robust construction possible. Polished wooden grip scales forming the 4 3/8″ inch grip are firmly riveted to the tang, completing a solid and reliable hilt. The wooden scabbard is wrapped in stitched leather and finished with a metal chape and belt loop. Included as well are the traditional companion tools: the Karda utility knife and the Chakmak sharpening tool—two essential accessories that have long accompanied the khukuri.
